=== PROGRAM UPDATE ===

The program for our next meeting, Monday, April 29, will be given by a representative of the Cardinals organization who will explain why they are seeking state funding to build a new stadium in St. Louis. Come with your questions, come with prospective members and come to learn about this major legislative issue.

The following week, May 6, our speaker will be Rotarian Judge Mary Rhodes Russell, a member of the Eastern District Court of Appeals who will explain the role of the appellate court in the state judicial system.

=== CHARTERING CEREMONY A GREAT SUCCESS ===


Congratulations to all for the wonderful evening celebrating the chartering of the Jefferson City Evening Rotary Club. Special thanks to Fazle Khan and Bryan Pope for planning the evening and the program booklet. Now that we are official Rotarians, we have many opportunities to implement the Rotary motto “Service Above Self.” Special thanks also go to Sam Khan, manager of the Monroe Plaza Hotel, for providing meeting space, excellent food and service at a modest cost. Sam is among our club’s newest prospective members!


=== SERVICE PROJECTS ===


Eleven members of our club turned out to help Habitat for Humanity on a recent Saturday. A good and productive time was had by all. Be thinking about when we want to have another Habitat day!

As this is being sent out, we hopefully had a good turn out to help the Jefferson City Day Care Center with a bar-be-cue in conjunction with its rummage sale. Proceeds from the day are earmarked for a trip to the St. Louis Zoo for youngsters who benefit from the Day Care Center’s programs.
