**Subject:** Meeting / Jefferson City EVENING Rotary Club
The Jefferson City Evening Rotary met Monday, June 2nd.
President Lora Nelson introduced Charlie Palmer, volunteer for the Lewis and Clark Task Force celebration for Jefferson City. Palmer presented slides depicting the sequence of events between the signing of the Louisiana Purchase and the trip to the Pacific Ocean. The presentation also included some of the current events that have provided the local community with a chance to learn more about this historical event. There have been reenactments, presentations, and dinners on the river. On July 18th the group will sponsor a fund raiser at the Eagles Club.
President Lora Nelson discussed the possibility of a Centennial Project in Jefferson City commemorating Rotary's 100th anniversary. This is the date Rotary International has set to completely eradicate the world of polio.
Nelson then discussed the need for making our fellow Rotarians more aware of the diversity of the professional careers exemplified in the Evening Rotary Club. Each week a club member will give a short talk on their careers. She began by briefing members on her responsibilities of a state senate appropriations analyst.
The Jefferson City Evening Rotary Club meets every Monday at 5:30 at Grace Episcopal Church on the corner of High and Adams. Those interested in membership are asked to contact the president.
