<P><FONT face="Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">The regularly weekly meeting
of the <STRONG>Jefferson City Evening Rotary Club </STRONG>was held at 5:30
p.m., March 3 at Grace Episcopal Church. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif"><STRONG>Rotarian Mulima
Walusiku </STRONG>presented information regarding Rotary International's global
campaign to <STRONG>eradicate polio </STRONG>from the world by 2005. This
effort, in conjunction with the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers
for Disease Control has managed to free all but seven countries of the world of
polio. Walusiku also announced that the Jefferson City Evening Rotary Club has
exceeded its </FONT><FONT face="Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">goal in
pledge payments totalling $5,400.00. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif"><STRONG>Rotarian Frank
Pisano </STRONG>provided information on the <STRONG>Rotary Essay
</STRONG>Contest for Jefferson City students in grades 9-12. The topics for the
essay were given and the due date of March 31 was announced. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif"><STRONG>Rotarian Jeff
Kunce </STRONG>gave an update on the <STRONG>Rotary International
</STRONG></FONT><FONT face="Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif"><STRONG>Student
</STRONG>Exchange program. Fourteen students from the Rotary District including
mid-Missouri will be leaving this summer for destinations such as
Switzerland, Belgium, Ecuador, Brazil, Taiwan, Thailand, and Japan. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif"><STRONG>Rotarian Harry
Richter </STRONG>announced the date of the next <STRONG>Habitat for Humanity
</STRONG>event to be held Saturday, April 26th. Pictures of the completed
painting by Rotarians of the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center were distributed.
An update on the raffle tickets for the <STRONG>YMCA auction </STRONG>was given
by <STRONG>Rotarian Paula Hartsfield</STRONG>. The club has sold $600
worth of tickets. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif"><STRONG>Rotarian Tony
Hiesberger </STRONG>noted that <STRONG>District Governor Duane Benton
</STRONG>has arranged for display areas to be available at the <STRONG>Rotary
District Conference </STRONG>for any of the 46 Rotary Clubs to display
information regarding good works done in Missouri communities. The
conference is scheduled for the Capitol Plaza Hotel from May 1 through 3.
Hiesberger and service committee co-chairs <STRONG>Harry and Suzanne Richter
</STRONG>are putting the display together for the Evening Rotary
Club.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif"><STRONG>President Vic
Tomlinson </STRONG>announced the <STRONG>Missouri Rotary Student Government
Day </STRONG>scheduled for March 24. Volunteers are being sought to
escort and transport students that day. <BR>ay. </FONT></P>
<P><FONT face="Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">The Jefferson City Evening
Rotary Club meets every Monday night except holidays. Meetings begin at 5:30 at
Grace Episcopal Church on the corner of High and Adams. Persons interested
in membership in Rotary in Jefferson City may call <STRONG> Club
President Vic Tomlinson at 659-5076. </STRONG></FONT></P>
