</EM></FONT><STRONG>My name is Steve Rice and I am the Polio Plus Chair of
Springfield-Southeast Rotary. </STRONG></P>
<P>Brent asked that I pass on to you things that we are doing to raise money for
Polio Plus. Our <STRONG>club goal is <FONT
face="Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">$25,000</FONT>. </STRONG>YTD, we
have raised $5,500. </P>
<P><STRONG>Here is a list of what we have done (or will do) to exceed our goal:
</STRONG></P>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV><FONT face="Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">Fun Fashion
Show...</FONT>We have a member that owns a
<DIV></DIV>men's clothing store and another member that owns a
<DIV></DIV>jewelry store. Along with a couple of women's stores,
<DIV></DIV>all contributed items for "models" to show. Then, we
<DIV></DIV>had two of our "illustrious" members dress in women's
<DIV></DIV>outfits and walk the "runway". Members paid money to not have to see
the latter again. This raised $532
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>We had a <FONT face="Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">silent
auction </FONT>of items that club members
<DIV></DIV>donated. This was held concurrently with our Club's
<DIV></DIV>Anniversary Celebration. This raised $2185
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>Our World Community Service Committee holds a
<DIV></DIV><FONT face="Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">50/50 raffle
every week </FONT>and the proceeds are going
<DIV></DIV>to Polio Plus. YTD we have raised $1200.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<P><FONT face="Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">We are raffling off
His/Hers Rolex watches </FONT>valued at approximately $10,000. Raffle tix cost
$100 and we hope to sell 300 tickets. There will be consolation prizes given.The
drawing will be held at our annual Valentine's Day party. </P>

<DIV></DIV><FONT face="Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">Our Pennies for
Polio campaign </FONT>kicks off this Thursday.
<DIV></DIV><STRONG>We will be asking Rotarians to take a "change can" to their
place of business </STRONG>to inform as many people as
<DIV></DIV>possible about the initiative and give them a chance to
<DIV></DIV>donate to the cause. In addition, some members that
<DIV></DIV>have retail outlets have agreed to place the donation
<DIV></DIV>cans at their places of business. We are hoping to
<DIV></DIV>spread the word in the community this way.

<DIV></DIV><EM><STRONG>When my daughter learned of children's plight when
</STRONG></EM>
<DIV></DIV><EM><STRONG>stricken with polio, she voluntarily asked that children
</STRONG></EM>
<DIV></DIV><EM><STRONG>attending her 10th birthday party give a donation to
</STRONG></EM>
<DIV></DIV><EM><STRONG>Polio Plus in lieu of gifts. She raised $250 and donated
</STRONG></EM>
<DIV></DIV><STRONG><EM>it to the Polio Plus cause. </EM></STRONG>
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>
<P><STRONG>4th and 6th grade students are creating <FONT
face="Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">"Recognition
</FONT></STRONG><STRONG><FONT
face="Arial Black, Geneva, Arial, Sans-serif">Keepsakes" </FONT>to give to club
members when they donate </STRONG><STRONG>at least $100. </STRONG></P>
