The Jefferson City Evening Rotary met on Monday, April 5 at Grace Episcopal Church at 5:30.
President Lora Nelson reminded fellow rotarians that the District Conference is being held at Tan Tar A May 7th and 8th and preregistration is encouraged.
Evening Rotarians picked up trash along their stretch of adopted highway on 179 on Saturday, April 3rd.
A reminder was also given that dues for this quarter are now due.
The evening program was introduced by Rotarian Paula Hartsfield. Anne Littlefield is incoming president of the Capital City Council on the Arts. She gave an overview of the Art in a Suitcase program. This program is a way to bring the art gallery to the children of Jefferson City. The program, which focuses on 4th graders , introduces DaVinci, Benton, Picasso, Tanner, Monet, and VanGogh. The program has approximately 40 volunteers that do a one hour workshop which includes history of the artist and a hands on portion to introduce the students to that style of art. This program is funded using membership fees and fundraisers.
The Jefferson City Evening Rotary Club meets every Monday evening from 5:30-6:30 except for holidays. Anyone interested in learning more about Rotary may go online to jceve.org.
