An update on club news from President-elect Harry Richter

Announcements

  • Club Update: June 20, 2004 announcement

Dear fellow Rotarians:

this week's meeting

The program for this week's meeting (TUESDAY) will include a bio done by Don Prost, one of our newer members. In addition we will have some fun Rotary member education in the form of a Rotary trivia quiz based on the last 2 issues of the Rotarian. You might look through those issues in preparation and if at least a few of you would bring those magazines to the meeting it would be helpful; as this will be an open book quiz.
Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.

Attendance

Members are reminded that attendance at a minimum of 60% of the meetings (actual or make-up) is required for membership. One of the advantages/disadvantages of a small club is that when you are absent you really ARE missed! Fellowship is one of the reasons to have a club, but fellowship is not possible without you. I would also like to remind the officers and board members how important it is that we lead by example. Your regular attendance is important and is expected.

Habitat for Humanity.

After checking with Gina at Habitat several times, it seems that they have just finished the current house and will not be starting another one until September.

Highway Cleanup

Therefore, since our adopted section of highway 179 is looking a little seedy, our service project this Saturday will involve the clean-up of our adopted section of highway. This actually works out well; since so many of you are busy right now, because we can actually do this project in about an hour and a half if sufficient numbers of people show up. Please, please come and help and feel free to bring family and friends as well. The more we have the less time it takes and the better job we can do. Meet at our house at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, where we will organize and proceed to the site.

If you have not seen the safety film, please come at 8:15 as this is required for participation.

Next Week's Meeting

Next week will be installation of officers and recognition of past officers and board members. We will also have as our guest this year's exchange student and his host parents. He will soon be leaving for home so please take this opportunity to wish him well. This meeting will be at Hotel DeVille as explained in Tony's e-mail. Any questions you have could be answered at this week's meeting. We will no doubt need a head count for planning purposes.

Yours in Rotary,

Harry Richter
