Club Update, July 2, 2005
We had a rewarding "Changing of the Guard"
last Tuesday with a wonderful opportunity for fellowship. President Harry
reviewed our many accomplishments during the 2004 -2005 Rotary year.
We honored the contributions from many of our club members. Past District
Governor Nicholas Monaco informed us on many past events that has made
Rotary the leading service organization in the world. He provided
many interesting facts about Rotary throughout the world, our district,
Jefferson City and our club. then PDG
Nicholas install the new leadership team to prepare us for the 2005- 2006
and they where introduced to the Club.
Our first opportunity in the new Rotary year
will be to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Rotary Centennial Park
July 4th at 5:00 PM. It will be a wonderful way to start the new Rotary year and
spend an evening enjoying the Jefferson City July 4th celebration.
Our July 5th meeting agenda will include a
program titled "The Iraqi War Another View Point" presented by Shakir
Hamoodi, an Iraqi-American nuclear engineer, living in Columbia, Missouri will
speak to the club. Also our new committee leaders will have a to promote
their plans for the year and recruit committee members. Please think
about which committees you want to participate on. Below I have
listed the committees with the participants identified so far.
Note we are looking for a
Sergeant-at-Arms, if you are interested be contact a board
member.
I have attached the monthly theme calendar
for the Rotary year. Lets try for each committee to think about activity each
month that align with the monthly themes.
Our July 12th meeting will be a visit from
District Governor Don Brackhahn. Don will
be giving a 15 - 20 minute district report. Our Club leaders will present the
goal for the year and introduce the committee members
to Don and the club. So please decide which committees you want to
participate on. I hope every one in the club get introduced at least twice. Note
our monthy board meeting well follow the meeting.
Please make every effort to attend the next
two meeting and bring guests (prospective members). These meeting should be a
great opportunity to learn about Rotary.
